Trainee Accounts Assistant

Bidford-On-Avon • Permanent • Full-Time Hours • Salary £18,550

An exciting opportunity for someone who is looking for a career within Accountancy and Finance. This role is very exciting and will offer the individual a study support pacakage.

Day to day duties of our Trainee Accounts Assistant:

  • Responsible for processing bank transactions onto JD Edwards daily, including: -
    • Printing daily bank reports.
    • Matching JD Edwards receipt/payment transactions to daily bank reports.
    • Posting ‘in-transit bank transactions to JD Edwards at month-end.
    • Producing month-end bank reconciliation reports for further review/authorisation by the manager.
    • Liaising with suppliers.
  • Assisting A/R function with processing of daily customer receipts onto JD Edwards, including:
    • Allocating receipts onto customer accounts.
    • Filing customer remittances.
    • Liaising with Credit Controllers to resolve receipt queries (e.g. missing remittances from customers, incorrect payment amounts received from customers, etc.).
  • Assisting A/P function with processing of daily supplier invoices onto JD Edwards, including: -
    • Processing supplier invoices onto JD Edwards
    • Liaising with other functions to resolve price/quantity invoice queries.
    • Filing supplier invoices
    • Supporting monthly supplier payment activities

General office duties (photocopying, scanning, general filing, etc.) 

With the right training and support, the role will expand with further duties over time

  • Supporting accountants with ad-hoc tasks/projects.
  • Involvement with monthly foreign currency cash flow forecasts.
  • ‘Exposure’ to other aspects of accounting work (in addition to expected A/R, A/P and daily bank transaction tasks), for example potentially: -
    • VAT
    • Monthly accounts procedures
    • Inter-company procedures

The Successful Trainee Accounts Assistant must have the following skills/experience:

  • Some ‘Finance Dept.’ experience would is desired, but not essential as full training can be given.
  • The desire to study finance-related courses would be encouraged.
  • A ‘common sense approach to problem-solving.
  • A ‘can do attitude to learning new tasks.
