Alcester Salary £55,000 + car allowance, Full time permanent role
Due to continued growth and contract wins, our client is looking for an experienced Building Estimator to join the team. You’ll play a vital role in quoting and managing the financials of building projects ranging from a few thousand pounds up to £1 million. These include refurbishments, extensions, and even new builds.
This role is primarily office-based, with occasional site visits. You’ll work closely with architects, surveyors, suppliers, and clients to ensure accurate costing, interim valuations, and final accounts — all while keeping your cool and your spreadsheets in check!
What will the day-to-day duties of this Quantity Surveyor role be?
- Pricing/Forecasting the cost of the different components needed for a project.
- Tracking changes to the design and / or construction work and adjusting budget projections in line with these.
- Selecting and or sourcing construction materials.
- Sourcing contractors and/or sub-contractors to work on the construction stage of the project.
- Measuring and valuing the work done on site.
- Dealing with financial valuations and variations.
- Liaising with the client and other construction professionals, such as site managers, project managers and site engineers
What Skills and Experience do I require for this Quantity Surveyor role?
We’re looking for someone with:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Estimator or Quantity Surveyor role
- Up-to-date knowledge of construction estimating and building regulations
- Previous experience in public sector projects is a big plus
- Familiarity with Schedules of Rates would be very helpful
- Relevant qualifications or professional memberships (RICS/CIOB/etc.) desirable
- A full UK driving licence
