The Role
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading logistics provider based in Redditch to join their Time Critical department. This is a fast-paced, dynamic environment where no two days are the same. We are looking for two driven individuals to act as the pivot point between customers, suppliers, and internal teams, ensuring urgent freight moves seamlessly across the UK and Europe. Operating on a 07:00 – 19:00 schedule, you will act as a hybrid between Customer Service and Transport Planning. You will be responsible for managing urgent enquiries, quoting complex shipments, and ensuring the smooth movement of goods.
This is a hybrid position blending Customer Service, Transport Planning, and Commercial Quoting. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of time-critical shipments, from the initial enquiry through to final delivery and invoicing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commercial Quoting & Solutions: You will manage customer enquiries via phone and email, providing rapid quotations for UK and EU transport. You will need to offer multiple solutions—including Airfreight, Road transport, and Hand Carry—to meet client deadlines while reviewing routes to maximize profitability.
- Operational Management: You will be responsible for booking and tracking shipments, sourcing suppliers, and communicating effectively with them to ensure transport is planned cost-effectively.
- Critical Problem Solving: The role involves dealing with high-pressure situations, such as line stoppages, requiring immediate action and solution-finding.
- Customer Communication: acting as the primary point of contact, you will keep customers updated on the progress of their jobs and escalate any issues relating to requirements effectively
- Administration & Compliance: Closing out job files by obtaining Proof of Deliveries (PODs), Purchase Orders, and SPTR references. You will ensure all jobs are completed on the system and checked prior to invoicing, maintaining data integrity at all times
- Warehouse Liaison: You will ensure clear communication with the warehouse team regarding returns and outgoing loads to allow for effective planning
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience: You must have a sound knowledge of the Transport and Freight Forwarding industry, with European planning experience being essential.
- Skills: Strong computer literacy (MS Office, spreadsheets) is required, along with a good level of numeracy and literacy
- Attributes: You should be highly organized, able to prioritize conflicting requirements, and remain focused under pressure. A second language would be an advantage, though it is not essential
Shift Pattern:
- 4 days on, 4 days off.
- 07:00am – 19:00pm.
Benefits:
- Competitive Base Salary + 10% Shift Allowance.
- 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays (Option to purchase 5 extra days).
- Free on-site parking.
Application Process: Please note that as part of the screening process, successful applicants will be invited to complete a short video interview to discuss their experience and suitability for the role.
