Equine Veterinary Technician

Henley-in-Arden • Permanent • Full time • £20-22,000 per annum DOE

Our client is currently recruiting for an Equine Veterinary Technician to join their growing business.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the Veterinarians with the horses within their care during clinical procedures both at the purpose-built clinic and whilst out at yards.

These duties will be varied but include lameness investigations, diagnostic imaging, standing surgery, gastroscopy and a variety of ambulatory procedures including some stud work.

  • Transportation of diagnostic equipment to and from the clinic, with occasional driving duties for the veterinarians.
  • General stable and yard duties at the clinic for all in-patients as required.
  • To liaise with appropriate staff regarding admission and discharges from the clinic, including interaction with clients.
  • Maintaining clinical records for patients, including discharge instructions and veterinary reports as required.
  • Performing in-house laboratory duties.
  • Maintaining stock levels in the clinic of all pharmaceutical drugs on a weekly basis
  • Carrying out general cleaning duties throughout the clinical areas, the inpatient yard and lameness investigation areas.
  • Ensure all veterinary equipment is maintained and sterilised
  • Maintenance of stock levels within Veterinarian’s cars
  • Carrying out telephone and reception duties as required.

To be considered for our Equine Veterinary Technician it will be essential to have:

  • Confidence and experience in handling horses, including fresh performance horses and youngstock.
  • An ability to work within the team, but also to perform sole responsibility tasks as required.
  • Good organisational skills and time management
  • A flexible and supportive attitude
  • A full driving licence
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A professional and smart appearance throughout the working day.

It will be beneficial if you have

  • Knowledge of medications/ pharmaceuticals terminology
  • Good IT skills.

As an Equine Veterinary Technician, you will receive.

  • Working hours: Monday to Friday 8.00 am – 5.00 pm
  • 1:4 rota for Monday to Friday evenings late finish if required
