Our client, a leading construction company, based in Redditch, is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our finance team, reporting directly to the Financial Director.
Ideally, AAT qualified and moving towards ACCA or CIMA professional qualification.
What are the day-to-day duties of the Assistant Accountant?
- Cost value reconciliations for all current construction projects.
- Maintain a fixed asset register reconciling to the Plant Manager System.
- Allocate subcontract orders producing monthly accruals with job surveyors.
- Invoice processing to our Evolution system.
- Month End control account reconciliations.
- Post monthly valuations, reporting to Financial Director of payment shortfalls.
- Raising of sales ledger invoices for site variations, including credit control.
- Allocation of vehicle fuel cards and analyse weekly expenditure.
- Reporting of insurance claims and leasing with insurers to close down outstanding claims.
- Month end journal postings.
- Ad hoc reporting as required.
What skills and experience do I need for the Assistant Accountant?
- AAT qualified and moving towards ACCA or CIMA professional qualification
- Previous experience in an accounting or finance role is essential
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel)
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities,
- Attention to detail and accuracy are essential.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
